Lycanites Mobs has now moved to GitLab, the GitHub repo is still up but will no longer be updated, issues and pull requests will no longer be accepted from there. Existing issues have been migrated over to GitLab.

Update: Wrath of The Cockatrice! - Version for Minecraft 1.12.2

New Features:

New Mob Added: Cockatrice - Deadly chicken-like wyvern dragons that rule the jungle skies!


The Cockatrice has been added to the Dragons Roar event.

Minor Fixes:

Creatures that are fully disabled will no longer be added to the vanilla mob spawners on load which should stop them from briefly spawning before then being removed.

Fixed a bug where the Sleep spawn trigger cooldown wasn't working allowing Phantoms to be farmed way too easily.

Added missing revenge AI to several mobs.

The Demonic Temple dungeon Astaroth boss has been reduced in size to fit in the dungeon.


Plans For Minecraft 1.13


Modded Minecraft 1.13 is on the horizon, so I've added this post here to keep you all up to date on the progress of 1.13.

Current State

Currently I'm waiting for Forge to release for 1.13, there's a lot of changes as always so this could take some time.

Mod Restructuring

I will be completely restructuring the mod where the sub-mods such as freshwatermobs will be going away where instead everything will be provided in just lycanitesmobs. Creatures are going to be reclassified into a new grouping system where instead of mostly based on location or general theme like: Freshwater, Forest, Shadow, Arctic, etc, it will be based on the kind of creature like: Demon, Beast, Dragon, Arthropod, Undead, Aberration, etc. I'll likely update the Plans page soon with more info on this.

Older Version Support

I still get a lot of requests for 1.7.10 support! I'd love to cover older versions but code-wise they're almost entirely different games, as only one guy working on this project it's too much for me to do, but I make sure that Lycanites Mobs source code is open source so that anyone can grab the mod and back port or whatever, be sure to check the mod out on Gitlab (the Github is outdated now).

Due to the restructuring of the mod and 1.13 changes, I wont be able to maintain new features in 1.12.2 either, but I will try to provide hotfixes for any major bugs in 1.12.2, but other than that, all new features and changes will be for 1.13 only once I've updated the mod to it (which will likely be from version

The Equipment System

Equipment is almost there for weapons and tools, but I still have some major things to finish for it, the trickiest part of assembling and rendering the equipment is done but I have't got round to the stats and functionality of the equipment yet. I'm not sure if this will make it into 1.12.2 so might be postponed for 1.13. But I might be able to back port this depending on how different this part of the code is.


There are many ways to contact me if you want more info, but I'm most active on the Lycanites Mobs Discord Server which is linked on the right side of this site (might be at the bottom on mobile). The community that has grown there is pretty awesome and there are always helpful to questions about the mod, etc too!

New Features:

New Astaroth Model Added


Significantly reduced the end spawn rate of flying mobs.

Increased the sight of Asmodeus and Rahovart.

Increased the size of Asmodeus' primary attack projectiles.

Reduced the leg movement speed of the Shade running animation.

Astaroth now attack from their new mech arms over head which may make them a bit more difficult as they can easily attack down hills now.

Minor Fixes:

Increased the volume say and tame sounds for the Wraamon.

Wraamon are no longer classified as undead.

Fixed a bug where global spawn settings such as the Master Dimension List weren't affected mobs spawned via the vanilla spawner.

New Mob Added: Wraamon - Chaos rats that leap and bite causing instability.

New Shade Model

Argus now have a ranged Chaos Orb attack.

Major Fixes:

Fixed a bug where leaping mobs would fall through the ground when leaping with 0 xz distance to their target.


Demonic Soulcubes now cost diamonds instead of diamond blocks.

Instability no longer affects bosses.

Minor Fixes:

Fixed the size scale and hitbox of rare subspecies.

Fixed a bug where the rare subspecies level 3 bosses in dungeons weren't scaled in size correctly.

Fixed vertical offset of the Aetherwave attack (fired by Sylphs).

Fixed a vanilla crash triggered by the structure spawners when searching for the nearest structure on a world with no structure generation set.

Fixed a crash caused by entities from other mods that don't have an entity ID resource location.

Fixed a bug where the projectiles fired by Cacodemon and Beholder mounts exploded instantly.

Added missing swiftswimming buff icon.
