Lycanites Mobs

Plans: Lycanites Mobs 2 and Minecraft 1.13/1.14

2018-07-19

Modded Minecraft 1.13/1.14 is on the horizon, so I've added this post here to keep you all up to date on the progress of 1.13/1.14.

Current State

Currently I'm waiting for Forge to release for 1.13/1.14, there's a lot of changes as always so this could take some time. You can keep tabs on the latest Forge available here: https://files.minecraftforge.net

1.13 or 1.14?

If Forge releases for 1.13 first with no sign of 1.14 I will update to 1.13. If it skips to 1.14, I will have to do the same. If both 1.13 and 1.14 release at the same time or very close to each other, I will likely 1.13 like I did with 1.8, unless 1.13 is very easy to back port to.

Lycanites Mobs 2.0.0.0

I plan to completely restructure this mod as well as reorganise existing mobs into new types rather than groups, this update will be versioned 2.0.0.0. Whether this will be released for 1.12 depends on if 1.13/1.14 shows up before I start this restructure.

Mod Restructuring

I will be completely restructuring the mod where the sub-mods such as freshwatermobs will be going away where instead everything will be provided in just lycanitesmobs. Creatures are going to be reclassified into a new grouping system where instead of mostly based on location or general theme like: Freshwater, Forest, Shadow, Arctic, etc, it will be based on the kind of creature like: Demon, Beast, Dragon, Arthropod, Undead, Aberration, etc. I'll likely update the Plans page soon with more info on this.

Older Version Support

I still get a lot of requests for 1.7.10 support! I'd love to cover older versions but code-wise they're almost entirely different games, as only one guy working on this project it's too much for me to do, but I make sure that Lycanites Mobs source code is open source so that anyone can grab the mod and back port or whatever, be sure to check the mod out on Gitlab (the Github is outdated now).

Due to the restructuring of the mod and 1.13 changes, I wont be able to maintain new features in 1.12.2 either, but I will try to provide hotfixes for any major bugs in 1.12.2, but other than that, all new features and changes will be for 1.13 only once I've updated the mod to it (which will likely be from version 1.21.0.0).

The Equipment System

Equipment is just about ready (you can try it out in creative mode now). I plan to have it on its feet for 1.12 before the Lycanites Mobs 2 restructure.

Discord

There are many ways to contact me if you want more info, but I'm most active on the Lycanites Mobs Discord Server which is linked on the right side of this site (might be at the bottom on mobile). The community that has grown there is pretty awesome and there are always helpful to questions about the mod, etc too!

Update: A Whole New Breed of Evil! - Version 1.20.5.2 for Minecraft 1.12.2

Download:
MediaFire Curse
Config Reset Version:

1.17.3.2 (Configs made before this version will be reset by this update.)

New Features:

In creative mode only, most features have now been implemented for the Equipment System and are ready for testing, this isn't 100% complete yet however and is still missing many pieces that i want available for the official release of the Equipment System.

Config Changes:

Changed the config for disabling donation familiars from a true/false value to a list of player names which allows for more choice where they can be disabled on a per player basis instead of just globally.

Added a client side config option to disable the alpha rendering of mob textures, this can increase performance on low end systems.

Changes:

The Beastiary Index page now displays mod version info including the latest changes.

Balancing:

Piercing damage will no longer come into effect if the target player is using a shield allowing the shield to block the damage as well as armor. I've also added shield interrupting logic which will be added to mobs later on allowing some of them to interrupt shielding.

Minor Fixes:

Fixed a bug where the Beastiary had scaling issues on aspect ratios wider than 16:9.

Fixed a bug where mobs with a name tag applied weren't showing their custom name if Subspecies Name Tags were hidden.

Pets set to follow will now only teleport to their owner if they are able to breathe at their owner's location.

Fixed a bug where mobs could be spawned by the vanilla mob spawner when a mob's spawning was disabled or a mob was entirely disabled (causing them to spawn and despawn instantly).

Fixed a bug where Ooze was destroying XP Orbs.

Config Reset Version:

1.17.3.2 (Configs made before this version will be reset by this update.)

Major Fixes:

Fixed a bug where the extra key bindings could only be changed in the options menu when using the en_US language. They should now translate correctly as well.

Changes:

Mobs will now be unable to select a player as an attack target when the world is in peaceful difficulty.

Balancing:

Eechetik will now only emit their plague aura if they have an attack target.

Minor Fixes:

Fixed the mount offsets for all rideable pets.

Fixed a bug where mounts that are told to sit would return to the spot where they were told to sit after being dismounted by there own instead of just sitting at the spot they were dismounted instead.

Fixed a crash caused by entering an Invalid Creature ID or Class when adding a MobSpawn entry.

Fixed a bug where a Summoning Pedestal that is placed when a player has no summonable creature knowledge was unable to have a minion set when the player had gained summoning knowledge without first being destroyed and placed back down again.

Fixed a bug where the summoning pedestal was using old language strings from before the new Beastiary when the player had no summonable creature knowledge.

Fixed a bug where the Summoning Pedestal was showing as red when player owned but with no summoning setup. In future updates red Summoning Pedestals will represent wild hostile ones.

Config Reset Version:

1.17.3.2 (Configs made before this version will be reset by this update.)

New Features:

Added subspecies skin feature! Currently only the Void Astaroths have been added. Subspecies are usually just recolors/retextures but subspecies skins allow for entirely different models and sounds. They will behave the same as their regular counter parts but may be found in different areas. Void Astaroths can be seen lurking in The End!

Config Changes:

Added config to control the frequency of mob idle sounds.

Balancing:

Tree and Ore Spawner Changes: By default Calpods no longer spawn from chopping down trees and Gorgomites no longer spawn from breaking coal or metal ores. These mobs can still be found out at night in the forest and desert like normal by default.

Minor Fixes:

Improved mob stats mod support, namely for Health. When spawning a mob would always reapply its level which would in turn reset its health creating conflicts with other mods that also affect mob health. This needs tested with various mods.
